So Much More Than Gymnastics!

As a gymnastics coach, and former gymnast, I could be biased on the topic. But really, you can trust me when I say Gymnastics is the sport to pick for your toddler or your preschooler. Why? Simply because it will help them build confidence, social skills and character.

Social Butterflies…

At The Jam, we consider our developmental gymnastics classes the most important in our program. Tod`Jam & Tween`Jam are where the fun begins! It is where our little ones learn how to socialize in a happy place. Jumping, climbing, running, bouncing, and swinging is always better with friends: our little jammers will learn to take turns, to encourage their friends, to celebrate their success and also to fail once in a while.

Proprioception and more

With gymnastics, kids engage both sides of their brain. Imagine for a little one how hard it is to remember right from left…now put them in a situation where they must find a way to place their right foot and left hand to realize an exercise! Can you see the challenge? In Gymnastics, the right side of the brain helps for spatial awareness, the left side takes care of logical tasks. Kids involved in rec gymnastics at a young age are able to develop a stronger focus and recall.

Strong and confident Jammers

Adults who were involved in gymnastics when they were young have strong bones! Because it is a great weight-bearing sport, Gymnastics help our Jammers to grow strong bones and an overall greater strength. With greater strength, jammers are willing to face more challenges. Class after class, they grow more and more confident. It is always our joy to watch our little jammers reaching goals and making progress.

Clumsy…not anymore!

You little one is well-known for being clumsy? Give them a few classes with us, and they will master balance and coordination. Once again, because Gymnastics uses the left and the right sides of the brain, Jammers develop coordination and balance in a time record. It also helps them to face the fear of heights.

As a Youth Fitness specialist, I have helped young athletes from 12 to 18 years old,  in their fitness journey. From the first session, I was able to tell who had done gymnastics in the past and who didn`t. Gymnastics exposes kids to a full range of physical challenges and muscle development, and it well-prepares children to enter other sports, experiencing fewer injuries in the meantime. If you are looking for a class to help your kids develop strong fitness and social foundations, Tod`Jam & Tween`Jam are your go-to.
